Colostrum Equine IgG Midland Quick Test KitTM

The Importance of High Quality Colostrum in the Newborn Foal
Disease Protection
In it's first 18-24 hours of life, ingestion of maternal colostrum protects the newborn foal from many diseases until it's own immune system becomes fully functional. During the next one to 2 months, Colostrum antibodies circulating in the foal's blood are the key source of protection from diseases.
Nutritional Value of Mare's Colostrum
A rich source of minerals and vitamins, protein, fat, casein, and maternal immunoglobulin content for passive immunity.
Management of Mare’s Colostrum
When managing your colostrum program, keep in mind: colostral quality (>50 mg/mL of IgG), time of feeding/suckling (1st 1-6 hrs), amount of colostrum feed (1 gal/1 ltr), alternate methods of feeding colostrum, feeding supplements, and long term storage and conditions (freezing emergency stock).
A simple and fast method for identifying IgG levels in the Equine colostrum
MBC is introducing the Colostrum Equine IgG Midland Quick Test Kit® to specifically screen the mare's colostrum for IgG.
Once a sample of colostrum is collected from the mare, a pre-measured sample is mixed with the provided dilution liquid. Place 4-5 drops of the diluted colostrum in the test cassette. In approximately 10-20 minutes, the appearance of a horizontal line in the Control (C) position on the strip tells you the test is working. A line or no line appearing in the Test (T) position will indicate if the measured amount of IgG in the colostrum is below or above 50 mg/ml of IgG. See diagram below for details.
U.S. Patents 6,245,577 and 6,660,534.
