Colostrum Bovine IgG Midland Quick Test Kit®

bovine colostrum IgG

Importance of High Quality Colostrum in the Newborn Calf

Disease Protection
Ingestion of colostrum protects the calf from disease in it’s first 24 to 48 hours of life until it’s own immune system becomes fully functional. Colostrum is the only source of maternal immunoglobulins (Ig) and antibodies to protect the newborn calf from disease.

Nutritional
A rich source of minerals and vitamins, protein, fat, casein, and increases the immunoglobulin content for passive immunity.

Management of Colostrum
This includes determination of colostral quality, timing and amount of colostrum administered, and the storage of substitutes and supplements.

A Simple and Fast Method for Identifying IgG Levels in Bovine Colostrum
Midland BioProducts Corporation® is introducing the Colostrum Bovine IgG Midland Quick Test Kit®.

By taking a small sample of colostrum drawn from the cow’s first colostrum, a drop of the colostrum sample is mixed with the provided dilution liquid. Next, place one drop of the diluted colostrum in the test cassette. Make sure the cassette is on a flat surface. In less than 20 minutes, the appearance of a horizontal line in the Control (C) position on the strip tells you that the test is working. A line appearing in the Test (T) position will indicate if the IgG level is unacceptable. If NO line appears in the Test (T) position, this indicates that the IgG level is acceptable.

U.S. Patent 6,245,577 and 6,660,534.
